The Story So Far

John has composed music and written songs throughout his career as a musician. His songs have been performed and recorded by many artists including Tony Lindsay, Tammi Brown, Lori Davidson, John “Broadway” Tucker, Viveca Hawkins and Pam Hawkins. His music is played regularly on KPIG, KKUP and KSQD. His album, “Busy On You” received airplay internationally, in Europe, Australia, Japan, on the BBC and in the US.

While composing in many genres, including Rhythm & Blues, Soul, Rock and Americana, John has written a collection of songs and instrumentals that are Jazz oriented, featuring Ballads, Swing, Samba, Post Bop and Blues. In order to express these varied styles, John has assembled a quartet of exceptional musicians with vast and exciting experience in Jazz performance.

The musicians are: John Morris on Guitar, Jeff Meyer on tenor sax, Patrice
Wallace on Double Bass and Kevin Di Noto on Drums. This classic combo allows a wide range of musical flexibility while maintaining intimacy for lyric communication.

John Morris

Guitar

John Morris is a well-known lyricist, songwriter, composer, guitarist, and band leader who works in the San Francisco Bay Area. John received his education in Jazz theory, arrangement, composition and
improvisation with renowned educator and musician Ray Brown.

John began his career in San Francisco, playing guitar with Curtis Lawson and The Unforgettables at the
Checkmate Lounge, Dori’s 21 Club at the Embarcadero, and the L&L Cabaret. He became a founding member of both the Holehouse Blues Band, the Broadway Blues Band, the John Morris Band and has performed with Sista’ Monica Parker both in concert and on her recordings.

The John Morris Band’s first album, Busy on You, received international recognition, getting airplay in Europe on the BBC, as well as throughout Australia and the US.

Jeff Meyer

Saxophone

Jeff Meyer is a saxophonist based in Santa Cruz, California, with over 30 years of experience playing Jazz,
Blues, and Funk across the San Francisco Bay Area.

Known for high-energy performances, Jeff has played everywhere from renowned music festivals and iconic venues, to the occasional street corner jam session.

When he's not on stage, Jeff is at home chasing his dream of making the perfect smoked brisket.

Patrice Wallace

Double Bass

Patrice Wallace has performed and recorded on the double bass in diverse, eclectic settings ranging from small ensembles to big band, and pit/orchestral groups. She's a graduate of CSU Sonoma (emphasis in Jazz Studies, Choral Music, and Composition).

Past projects/musicians she has collaborated with: Stan Poplin and Kontra, Catafornia (a joint project in Barcelona, Spain with Jazz arranger and multiple reeds player Richard Fenno, and Matthew Simon on trumpet), Joan Jeanrenaud (Your Body Is Not A Shark), The Isosceles Trio, All About Theatre’s many productions.

Other current projects include Flor de Caña, Samba Cruz and Sasupake (World Music) Quartet.

Kevin Di Noto

Drums

Kevin Di Noto is a versatile percussionist (drumset, steelpans, latin percussion, frame drums) appreciated for his smooth, lyrical approach to the drums.

He performs with a variety of groups around the Bay Area, and tours internationally with the North African ensemble AZA.
